Hey there!

My name is Ashley and I’m a small-town girl from the Southern Oregon Coast. I am currently enrolled with Southern Oregon University in an Elementary Education program, but have always been interested in anything and everything GIRLY! From a young age, I started binge-watching “Say Yes to the Dress” on TLC until the wee hours of the morning. I still watch various shows like “Four Weddings”, but with a more newfound aspiration to figure out how “budget” weddings might work — especially now since I am older and think more practically in terms of finances.

For starters, I grew up with a single-mother who has always been in the restaurant business. Money has always been tight for the two of us, and that’s okay. As I’ve grown older, I’ve come to find that it’s a common reality for a lot of people! One day, I was scrolling through wedding dresses (like most girly-girls in their 20’s do) and my Mom said to me: “Why don’t we start a website that shows people how to do low-budget weddings?”

Growing up in the middle of nowhere certainly had its perks, but it also has its downsides when you become a young woman who wants a poppin’ wedding. There’s very little options for venues to choose from, unless you want to drive over 20 miles out of town. Because of this, I started thinking: “Why not have a wedding in my (or figurative fiancee’s) backyard?”

A lot of people, whether residing in rural America or not, have backyards or even acres of land. Ding, ding, ding! To me, this idea of a backyard wedding makes so much sense in both financial and comfort-ability aspects. By having your wedding in a backyard, you eliminate a commute, the price, and the urgency after the wedding to clean a venue so that they don’t dock you of your cleaning deposit.

All of that being said, I hope to present chic, cute and affordable ideas on decorations, layouts, and other expenses of any type of wedding.  Though I may have grown up in a small town, I hope that this website serves well to a large population of people who are interested in an “outside” wedding, as well as making it an affordable one.

Cheers to making smart financial decisions while also having the wedding of your dreams — good luck!
